14th September 2003 Surfing: Ynylas Wind Direction: N/A Wind Stength: Calm Surf / Sea State: 3 foot glassy surf Air Temperature: 18ºC Sea Temperature: 16ºC Weather: Sunny Max Speed: Distance Covered: The surf was as good as it gets here. Perfect 3 foot wall of glass, with the occassional set a little bigger. I went out on a borrowed 6'10" at first, but didn't like it as it was too unresponsive so soon changed to my trusty little 5'10" fish and had a perfect session. The punchy waves were breaking nicely on the sandbanks and peeling both left and right, the sun was shining and I was the only person out... Perfection. After a couple of hours it started dropping off a bit. Dave and Sarah turned up then and I let them borrow the 6'10" board, but they just played around in waist deep water for some reason and didn't even attempt to paddle out! I've just read Shems diary entry and it sounds as though everyone else was having an equally good time of it at Graveyards... Can we have some more days like that please! |
